The ultra light, ultra strong and perfectly water tight ribbed Rimowa suitcases are of world fame. They are manufactured with a dose of solid know-how out of high quality materials and meticulously finished. In 1998, the Cologne-based manufacturer Paul Morszeck wanted to come up with a travel case that was both light and strong. However, it is only in 1930 the business starts to do well, when his son, Richard Morszeck, introduces the use of aluminium, following the trends in the aviation industry. In 1937, Rimowa presents the first lightweight metal travel case suited for flying and in 1950 the renowned ribbed aluminium suitcase comes on the market: the now famous Topas.
